China also continues to lead the games in speed slalom and classic freestyle The sun is finally shining again over Rome and on the terrace of the Pincio where the inline freestyle world championship has been taking place for four days. The last two days have been complicated and, due to the persistent rain, the competitions could not be held regularly. The judges were forced to cancel some competition after another due to the adverse weather conditions. Regarding the first speciality, no names from last year’s world championships appeared on the junior podium except for the men’s category: Huang Pin Ruei of China Taipei, gold medallist last year, had to settle for a bronze medal this year.

Also here is China team that commands the game, winning around eighty per cent of the medals on offer. In the junior women’s category, the two Chinese girls in first and second place confirmed last year’s medals. Bronze for an athlete from Hong Kong. In the men’s category only China’s Sun Xin Zhao defended the silver medal won in Shanghai, while in first and third place were China’s Li Ran and Pavel Matveev. Among the senior males, the Italians Valerio Degli Agostini and Lorenzo Guslandi got space for themselves and reach the podium in second and third place respectively, leaving the top step to the reigning speciality champion Zhang Hao. Among the women, Spain’s Victoria Andres Jofre succeeded in undermining the Asian hegemony by taking the bronze medal, behind Liu Jia Xin, silver medallist in 2023, and Qin Yu Qing.
