Riders entered the second day of the event under sunny skies, ready to test their limits on the drying track. Street Lugers and Inline Skaters were the first to get a look at the course. Finally able to push the track limits, riders reached speeds of nearly 90 kph.
In the afternoon, the Downhill Skateboarders had their first shot at the descent. The riders began with a moment of silence for Janine Willimann, a Swiss rider who recently passed away. After a somber moment, her companions on the Swiss team opened up the session and took the first run. After several hours of riding, the athletes were allowed one timed run to get a sneak peek at the time trials. French rider Adrien Paynel came away with the fastest time at 1:15.08, with the Spaniard Diego Poncelet trailing by 0.16 seconds and Canadian Alex Hannigan closing out the third spot. The time trial for Street Luge tomorrow is sure to be exciting, with time trials for Downhill Skateboarders following on Friday.
