World Skate Games Day 1 – Downhill Skateboard & Street Luge
Conditions on the first day of the World Skate Games for downhill skateboarders and street lugers were marked by torrential rain. With parts of the beautiful town of Tortoreto in near flood-like conditions, the morning practice session for the stand-up downhill skateboarders had to be cancelled. Fortunately, after a brief pause in the deluge around midday, the organizers were able to clean the debris from the track enough for street luge to take their afternoon practice session. Riders battled the second wave of rain, fighting for traction on the slick Italian tarmac. Spirits were high, however, and the courageous riders were able to get their first taste of what promises to be an excellent track, set to crown its champion on Saturday.
